Are Rapists Illiterate? Psychotic? Or criminals?| Muskan Pandey

‘A girl is raped and thrown into an edge of some drainage or amidst some bushes. A few days later, the dead body is sent for post-mortem and secretly the case is occluded.’

If the cases aren’t necessary to investigate, on what basis is it called an alarming issue? If the voices raised are unheard and cases are unsolved, who is the culprit?

This is a very sensitive topic. Innumerable truths are buried along with the victims.

Ask a girl how she feels when she hears such dreadful stories. She will certainly reply to the pain her heart holds with the silences on her eyes.

Ask a real man what he feels about the case. We will notice dissatisfaction and anger in his eyes.

The mentality a criminal holds has destroyed many lives of innocent girls. Some are still living with the pain, some couldn’t tolerate the suffering and get traumatized.

It sounds like the country is losing its dignity. People are losing their pride and humanity. But justice awaits.

Have you ever wondered where justice lies?

‘Justice, is in search of evidence.’

And evidence?

‘It’s still in the hand of the perpetrator.’

And criminal?

‘They are relishing the moment of liberty.’

And victims?

‘They are traumatized.’

And society?

‘They are protesting against women’s violence.’

And law?

‘The law has been quiet for years.’

‘Justice delayed is justice denied, ‘We want justice’, ‘Stop sexual harassment, ‘Hang the rapist’

This slogan resonates in every individual’s mind but despite all efforts, nothing changes. The slogans are left on roads, the protests get scattered and the pain is unseen.

Is Rape a culture? A tradition?

Why is sexual assaults said as gender issues? Is it an ill perception? Is revenge justice?

Are Rapists illiterate? Psychotic? Or a professional criminal?

And Laws and Justice- Ignorant? Or Judgmental?

To interpret women’s issues seems like seeking attention.

To share knowledge is like being ignorant. To question women’s safety is like welcoming the problems. That’s how people interpret when one speaks up.

They say, being optimistic is wrong, expecting is foolish. But, living with unpleasant and harsh reality is always accepted. Why?

This ill-practice must be brought down to an end.

No matter what others will say, women must be outspoken and courageous to bring all people together. Individuals must support those fighting for justice.

Victims must be provided with justice.

Crimes committed must be justified.

And together we must raise our voice to threaten the dirty mindset of criminals.

If we work together and support each other, we will definitely relish our strengths, power, and freedom to end these horrifying crimes.
