I Misunderstood | English Poem | Ranjit K Sahu

sauzan dhakal

I shudder and shiver in mortal fright
My dreams vanished among the lonely stars
In the soundless hours of a sleepless night
Steadily succumbing to heart’s own wars
Unable to dump memories outright.

Night gathered me in her lap as she should
Dreading a life bereft of your presence
Estimating the sorrows as I could
Regretting the lack of some common sense
Starring at endless emptiness I stood.

Treading on a bitter wound still drying
Over hours and hours of my pain untold
Overtly smiling , covertly crying
Dealing with destiny as it unfolds.
