Book Review: The Broken Wing

Broken Wing

The Broken Wing is written by Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran was a great writer who wrote many books namely, The prophet, The wonderer, Sand and foam, and so on.
The broken wing is one of the most popular works of the author and has been on the bestseller list for many years. It is translated into many languages. He died in 1931. Kahlil Gibran himself is the central character of the book. It is the autobiography of Kahlil Gibran.
This book reveals his own story. He was 18 when he falls in love with Selma. The broken wing is the love tale of Khalil and Selma.  Both of their father were friends at that time. When Kahlil met Selma he falls in with her for the very first time.
But unfortunately, Selma’s father was compelled to marry her somewhere else. When Khalil heard of Selma’s marriage he became much disappointed. After the marriage, Selma gives birth to her first baby who died, and owing to this Selama also kick the bucket.
Kahlil named his Broken wings because they could fight for the rest of the world to get his love. Selama was like a bird but wingless over Gibran’s luck.
This book is written in such a way that everyone loves to read it. It is for those who experienced love once in their lives. By reading this book, we come to know what really love is.
It is different from all other books everyone cannot get it without losing much. If someone understands it so they do not avoid it. I have learned many lessons from the book including that if you like or love something then don’t wait for the right time to come.
Try to achieve at the very beginning. History teaches us,” Time waits for none”. Everything changes with the passage of time, but the love from Khalil’s was not washed. This book revolves around many social norms including women’s rights, the different rules of Arabic parents.
Khalil Gibran as being an Arabic writer has provided us with some realities faced by the people of the Arabian Peninsula.
