My “binge-watching series life” started back in 2016, the “Game of Thrones” era is what I like to call it. Yes, I was six years late to watch the first season but nevertheless, I started. I did not watch it because I wanted to, but because my friends always talked about it and I wanted to be able to contribute to the GOT conversations that happened all around me. The show was such a great blockbuster, everyone around me could go hours talking and discussing the characters on the show. And that’s when it started, the addiction of watching series and since then I have watched hundreds of shows.

I was never a fan of the romantic genre, instead, the action-thriller, suspense-mystery, spy, and crime sort of genre always lured me towards it. My five top favorite series in this particular genre is the talk of the article today and is listed below:

1. Dark:

It is the first German series produced for Netflix with 8.8 out of 10 IMDB ratings. It is a mystery-drama series of a small German town that starts with two children missing and the story is an intricate puzzle filled with twists and connects the story to the town’s troubled history.

It also has a supernatural element that ties back to the same town in 1986. The most fascinating thing that I felt about the series is the way it makes its viewers confused at first but the very last scene of the last episode untangles all the mysteries and gives the very simple and logical answer to the problem portrayed in the series.

In simple words, Dark is a suspense series that has supernatural elements like time travel and is an absolutely mind-boggling art piece to watch.

2. Fauda:

It is an Israeli television series with 8.2 out of 10 IMDB ratings. The story is about the elite squad of Israeli undercover commandos operating in Palestine.

Unlike most American spy series, Fauda has got a moral complexity that is simplistic.

The real-life scenario between Arabs and Jews has been portrayed in reel life which is awestruck as well as heartbreaking at the same time. What I liked about this series was the rough and authentic scenario and the environment that the series was shot.

Overall, for me, this series gave a different perspective on Arab countries and the reality that this series shows is groundbreaking.

3. Narcos:

It is a Columbian series with 8.8 out of 10 IMDB ratings and is based on the real-life of drug lord Pablo Escobar.

The story of the series is based around Escobar and shows how he used to run his operations, what he did to keep the drug operation going, to what extent did he went to save his family and how did he die at the end.

The real heartbreaking moment of the series was when Escobar got shot and died. How can a person forget that cute yet grumpy face of Pablo Escobar?

I could not and I was literally sad for days after I finished the series.

The series shows the struggle of Escobar as a wanted criminal after his business starts to fall apart, his cartel dismantles, had to live a low-life afterward, and even had to cut-off connections with his family.

The most interesting part of the series was to see how a man being a drug lord and killing people without thinking twice had to think about his family and protect them at the cost of his own life.

As a whole, this series is a complete package if someone is interested in watching crime-related series specializing in drug operations like me.

4.You:

It is an American psychological thriller series with 7.8 out of 10 IMDB ratings.

The series is about the obsession of a guy towards a girl and his strategies to get closer to her.

The male character even gets rid of people that stand in a way of getting her. The show romanticized the horrific crimes that happen to women like stalking, violence, and even murder.

The show also depicts how a person’s childhood can and will affect their perspective towards things and people.

The most thrilling part about the series is when he had no option but to kill the person he loved and had to dump her body. The series portrays some real crimes happening around but is also a very good watch if you are into these sorts of genres.

5.Money Heist:

It is a Spanish series with 8.4 out of 10 IMDB ratings. The main character referred to as “The Professor” designed a masterplan to print out billions of Euros from The Royal Mint of Spain.

The team of nine people including him executes the plan. The story is about life inside the Royal Mint when they are printing the money and holding the negotiations to buy them some more time to print the planned amount.

The best part about this show is how every minute detail of the plan is designed. The Professor had designed a backup plan of backup in case the initial plan does not work out and it is just beyond ordinary imagination. It is a must-watch show even for those who do not like this genre.

These are just five personal favorite shows out of loads.  I will be writing about my other favorite shows in the upcoming articles. Till then watch these if you have not and recommend me if I am missing some amazing shows under the above-mentioned genres.
