#NOTMETOO
I have seen women struggling to get to the top, I have seen women who have been struggling but still at the same spot, and I have seen women who without any effort or struggle find an easy way out to get to the top.
From time immemorial, patriarchy has been above the heads. The rules, culture, traditions, and norms have been driven and bent by the patriarchs and led it according to their ease. But finally, years of domination are being addressed and the notion of feminism has engulfed everyone.
But are we all making the right use of “Feminism”?
I have seen women so swept away by feminism that they do not even like the presence of men around. Feminism has given so much power and confidence to women that most of them do not know what to do with it and how.
Some are using it to exercise their rights, some to feel the equality and some to get whatever they would not have gotten if followed the straight path.
Let’s shed some light on the third option where people are using “Feminism” to get what they want.
I know people who are directly taking the advantage of being a woman. In fact, I bet we all know some in our life who are doing so. We have heard about people like such in news, we know it in our hearts and we know they are around us. But we are afraid to reveal their true self, we are scared to speak out loud because then it will fire right back to us in the name of jealousy.
We all went through the phase of the #metoo movement. This movement was run against sexual abuse and sexual harassment where people publicized allegations of sex crimes committed by powerful people and/or prominent men. But we also came across such allegations which were later found out to be false. It was done out of jealousy, and/or revenge, which not only degraded the reputation of the accused person but damaged the credibility of the movement itself. Moreover, it questioned the authenticity of the actual cases where survivors finally decided to speak out.
We definitely should support women, but don’t you think these people are degrading the essence of “feminism” and the reason why “feminism” is taken otherwise.
Let us be clear on Feminism here. Kathy Caprino to Forbes says “Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes”. But what we understand is through Feminism feminists want to take over the world and put men down. And most of the women are taking Feminism forward backed by this particular idea.
I am not against Feminism, what I am against are those women using Feminism to take back on people, to get things, and to take revenge. And this is the reason why Feminism is not being taken positively as it should have been even by the women themselves.
I asked a guy friend of mine about Feminism and he said “ Honestly, I feel scared to be around women. I might never know when they start accusing me of harassment when I have not even looked at them. Feminism has given them so much power and would have been actual progress only if they had used it in a right and progressive manner, rather then feeling obligated to speak out even when no one is doing anything as close as harassment to them. I normally try to avoid crowded bus because that’s when most of these things happen.”
“Thanks to a feminist if you are a woman and you can go to college”- School of Feminism
This quote is as true as it must be.
Feminism is about creating equal opportunities for women in the political, social, and economic sectors. If women themselves are using Feminism is a wrong way, then the all those feminist who has been sacrificing to make a better world for women will have no option rather then to set back.
