Due to COVID-19, all schools, colleges and universities are shut down. There are no regular offices, roads are clearly empty and everything has stopped for a while now. Everyone’s in home. It is almost a month past the lock-down in Nepal itself and life is getting boring for few.
Meanwhile everyone is at home, nobody is free of course. They are consumed by technology and internet. Children are busy using mobile phones, teenagers are enjoying their social media time and parents are frequently searching for COVID-19 updates on television/online.
Students don’t feel like students anymore. Their dream of living home doing nothing finally came true. I, being a student myself, don’t feel like studying anymore. Maybe I enjoyed this lock-down a bit more.
Chances are my regular studying habits are replaced by movies and music. But I feel like I am missing something. I am not learning enough in this ideal time. That’s why, I did a small research on my own. Here are my learnings and 5 tips for learning from home.
1# Tip
Make a Plan:

Everything goes well if you plan well. Plan a day ahead about your learning schedule and stick to it throughout the day. Separate an hour or two to learn virtually; reading articles, news, blogs and skills. Read more during this time. You can start from wherever you wish.
2#Tip
Take Notes:

Reading and watching is not enough for learning. You have to take notes for better learning. Note taking helps you remember what you learnt. Write down keywords, main phrases, and important lines from your virtual classes and internet. Taking notes today will benefit yo in tomorrow as well. You can use color markers and highlighters to make your notes much interesting and effective.
3#Tip
Take a Break:

Don’t over study. Take breaks every hour. Get some snacks and drink plenty of water. You do not have to complete all your learning in a day. Too much learning in a day tends to stress your mind making you forgot everything the next day. Give yourself some time to relax and take more breaks.
4#Tip
Do One Thing at a Time:

Multi-tasking will get you nowhere. Better to focus on one activity at a time. Finish one lesson a day and keep another one for tomorrow or for later. Reading 2 lessons, or 2 writings the same time will confuse you and they won’t get into your brain. Remember: One work at a time.
5#Tip
Keep Your Routine:

Keeping a routine will make you more punctual, dedicated and a smart thinker. If you write down your activities and schedules, it will aid you to learn how to manage your day better. And a managed life will lead to a happier life. So, follow your routine and keep track of them regularly.
These are only few tips among many. The key learning here is to keep on learning no matter what. Don’t make excuses. Be active, follow your regular routine, don’t over isolate yourself, enjoy this time and make the best out of these days.
