It Only Takes One Step For A Big Change | Rhythm Bhetwal

It was a pleasant summer afternoon when I was returning from my school. It was probably Friday. I was joyous by the fact that the next day was Saturday, a day off from school.

I was thinking about what my teacher had taught us recently.

I realized that the lessons taught in school were not worthy as they didn’t apply in practical life. My teacher taught me to love nature, admire it, and get inspired by it The reality was not the same.

I have seen people who enjoy tearing the leaves and plucking the blooming flowers. I have noticed people stealing fruits from neighbour’s yards. I was not sure why I was taught lessons that were never applicable in real life.

As I wandered around the roads, I found chocolate wrappers, papers pieces, empty water bottles lying here and there. This disturbed me. But I didn’t dare pick them up and throw them in the dustbin on my own. I walked down the streets blabbering at people who might have thrown the garbage on the streets.

Stepping further, I saw a small girl planting a small tree sapling in the park. This surprised me. While everyone was careless about making the environment clean, a young girl was planting a tress. This unusual behavior dragged my attention. So, I went near her and asked, “Hey, What are you doing?”

The girl replied, “I am saving lives. I am saving the earth and respecting nature for a better tomorrow.”

Looking at her dreamy eyes, I felt warm and welcoming.

“Who encourages you to do such actions?” I asked her out of curiosity.

She replied, “The humanity inside me.”

Despite her young age, her thoughts, mindset, and emotions were praiseworthy. This taught me a lesson that ‘Change begins from oneself.’

I have been doing everything that contributes a little change in anything, everywhere and I am proud of myself.

Here’s my take from the event: Before you complain to others about anything, question yourself what you have done to solve that problem from your personal level.
