How To Control The Spread Of COVID-19

COVID-19 is an infectious disease. It was discovered in Wuhan, China. Now that the virus has spread around the world so rapidly, infected people are in the battle of life and death. The situation is tough and challenging.

We know that this virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Generally, people experience respiratory illness and recover without special treatment whereas others with an additional diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, and more are highly prone to develop serious illness.

Its symptoms are fever, dry cough, difficulty breathing, tiredness, diarrhea, aches, and pains. There are no specific vaccines or medicines developed for Covid-19, however, “Prevention is always better than Cure”.

You can take some prevention to be safe:

-Cover nose and mouth (if possible use N-95 or surgical masks)

-Maintain social distancing

-Drink hot water and stay hydrated

-Consume well-cooked food. Prefer eating healthy foods

-Wash hands regularly with soap or alcohol-based sanitizers

-Avoid crowd gatherings, avoid shaking hands. Greet with “Namaste” word

-Stay at home.

As the virus is spreading rapidly, countries are forced to lock-down the nation/ city. It is affecting the economic condition of every nation globally. There is a drastic increase in the market from food to goods. Financially stable people are doing fine but people with middle and below-average lifestyles are starting to face the crisis. Starvation is the next major crisis that is soon going to hit if the situation gets worse. Be prepared for the next step but don’t panic.

Though the government, various NGOs, INGOs, and personal supports are working to balance the situation distributing basic needs and foods to the needy ones, taking photos and videos to show or boast in the name of relief is not acceptable or followed. Such acts should be stopped.

In the context of Nepal, the border is closed. But the movement of people has not been halted completely. People are noticed crossing the border during night time. Though the government is trying to stop them, the people are secretly coming without authorization permits.

In Nepal, death case due to this virus is still zero-till today but it doesn’t mean that Nepal isn’t in danger zone. We have to be very aware and well-prepared.

This pandemic has also helped in uniting people from all aspects of life. Everyone is helping the government in fighting this disease from their level. Families are spending their time living at home. Children are enjoying their time playing various indoor games. Many are learning new skills like cooking, gardening.

Contrary to that, there are people spreading misleading information. Social media are misused by spreading fake news in the name of religion, caste, and conspiracies. It is a serious problem and should be controlled and strictly watched and punished.

Overall, we have to give special thanks to all the front liners, medical professionals, scientists who are engaged in research, policymakers, police force, armies, volunteers, and everyone who is fighting with this virus putting their life at risk.

The key learnings are to stay at home, be safe, and protect everyone from getting infected. We have to admire the work of the government too. They have locked down our country for our own safety. Rather than complaining let’s unite and fight together. We shall rise again after this pandemic is controlled.

Till then keep the hopes high and stay safe.
