5 Superstitions
So, at first the question arises what is superstition anyway?
It is highly unlikely that someone reading this won’t know what superstition is but here is how I put it.
Superstitions are any practices or traditions that are linked with supernatural aspects and they usually don’t have any rhyme or rhythm or some basis necessity to make sense to most sane people.
We all to this point of our lives have encountered many superstitions, and here are some of them that most of us can relate to:
1. Cats equals BAD LUCK:
You would be lying to yourself if you say that you haven’t heard at least two superstition about cats. You remember it right? It is BAD LUCK when a cat crosses your path. Also, black cats are BAD LUCK. Yeah, poor cats.
2. Chilies and Lemon for GOOD LUCK:
There was a time when every shop I put my eyes on had few chilies and lemon tied to a string right outside the entry point. I mean what is the deal here. Who actually came up with this strange cocktail for good luck?
3. Foot wear upside down is BAD LUCK:
Now this is getting out of hands. I mean shoes (upside down) brings BAD LUCK? At least people were trying with the cats and were creative with the chilly lemon cocktail.
4. Itchy limbs:
People say that when your right palm itch, then you will get money from unexpected way and vice versa. Also, people say that when your legs itch then you are bound to travel. Now I feel bad for the rich people and people who travel a lot. They must have some kind of itch disorder. So, all you have to do to become rich is don’t wash your hand for like ever. Right?
5. Keep knife under your bed for good dreams:
So, all I have to do to get rid of the nightmares is that I put a knife under my mattress. How do these things work exactly, like a dream magnet or something (for good dreams obviously).
Now that I look back I can see a lot of them were just non-sense. We always tend to take the easy way out and find someone else to take the blame, and that is why these superstitions exists in the first place.
So let me know if you can relate to these superstitions or if there are some others that you would like to give special shout out to and an honorable mention. Let the world know about these pointless superstitions guys.
