It’s been some time that my plant obsession has only touched the sky, I love gardening. Collecting the plants in my wishlist and taking care of them like my own babies. That’s my hobby. Still, I am not a pro, but I can give you some suggestions if you love plants and want to begin with some.

Even if you are a beginner to plants and gardening, these plants I am mentioning below will keep your morale up for gardening. These low maintenance plants that don’t require your heart and soul into it, and can survive a storm. So, let’s begin.

Snake plants are so easy to have. These kinds are easy to find, have a variety, and are hard to kill. And you know what’s better? They help in purifying the air. Can survive in low light to a bright day. Can go months without water, also resist over-watering.

Snake plants absorb CO2 even in the night, unlike other plants it doesn’t release oxygen at night.

Fun fact: Beyond its scientific name and “bedroom” nickname, the snake plant has also been known to respond to Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, Devil’s Tongue, Bowstring Hemp, and variations of the Good Luck or Lucky Plant.

There come the Spider plants. The beautiful green and white stripes are just astonishing. Again, easy to get and are child and pet friendly. Spider plants have been proven to absorb particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone–purifying the air and allowing us to breathe easier. Amazing right!!

However, don’t forget to keep it in the sunlight. It doesn’t have to be direct sunlight, but the soil needs to be kept dry.

Fun Fact: The spider plant was one of the stars of the NASA study. It excelled at breaking down formaldehyde by drawing it from the soil into its roots along with water.

Aloe Vera (Aloe)

Aloe Vera, this plant is beneficial for hair, face, health, and environment. It increases the oxygen level, improves breathing, and purifies formaldehyde and benzene. You know about it right, who doesn’t.

Aloe Vera helps relax burn, sunburn, cuts, dry skin, cold sores, and inflammatory acne, and so on. Keep the soil moist, not too soggy, and not too dry. Keep it thriving and you take every benefit from this plant.

Fun Fact: In ancient Egypt, Aloe Vera was popular as a ‘plant of immortality’. And Egyptians also used it as a part of their burial rituals. Cleopatra included the plant in her beauty regimen and used the plant on her body and face.

Jade, one of my personal favorites. This plant can survive in most of the circumstances and is low maintenance. It increases humidity, absorbs CO2 in the night just like Sansevieria. Jade is considered a succulent plant that adds beauty to your room, but also considered a good luck symbol.

A jade plant can be a perfect gift to a friend, as it symbolizes great friendship, prosperity, and luck. And you know what it has a beautiful bloom. I got my jade as a gift. Do you have yours??

If not, make your friends give you one.

Fun Fact: The root of the Jade plant is a part of the diet of many African tribes, and the leaves are used as a treatment of diarrhea and epilepsy for the purification of the body.

Ah! Cactus. One of the bliss to have. Cactus is one of the easily found plants and has thousands of varieties. It has prickles as leaves. And a lot of squishy flesh inside that absorbs water. And the ability to survive eternity even without water. Having this plant in your room said to absorb negative energy from you. Cacti are not only found in deserts but northern sides as well.

Cactus are also edible, many people consume cactus as a part of their diet, and it’s fruit. You need not be too considerate while getting a cactus and caring for it. It will adjust and compromise to the environment just like any daughter-in-law (if you know what I mean).

Fun Fact: Cacti have certain acoustic properties, meaning you can literally play the cactus.

So now go to the nearest nursery and get your plants. Care for your plants, water them, talk to them, and re-pot them once in a while.

Happy gardening!
