The society members cursed the new wife
for her dauntless nature, unconventional life.
She was asocial, against their stereotypes.
She didn’t worship her husband;
He wasn’t a deity, a God.
Getting the t-shirt and shorts dressed,
She did all the household chores;
Even in her office followed its mores.
But her husband never complained.
He was unoppressive, unrepressive.
Rather in the kitchen, he was cooperative.
Never did her dress matter, nor her complexion;
What mattered was spousal mutuality and rapport.
She did not worship her husband as God;
But she did worship the divinity in him.
