The girl who knew life | Poem by Chetram Bajaj

Sometimes knowing life is just a walk away, a walk into the unknown,

A walk I acknowledged this Thursday,

This Thursday had something special in it,

This Thursday had all that readers spend days and weeks looking for into the pages and pages, books and books

This Thursday brought me life, in its most amazing little form,

It visited me, and I acknowledged,

It was in the form of a little “She” whom I met on my way to Patan durbar square, Nepal

She was not beautiful but still attractive,

She was not special but still, something was special about her,

She knew none but still none was there she didn’t talk to,

She had nothing still many she could have asked to, but she didn’t,

She laughed, enjoyed and played, although all she had was, ” regrets”, “complains” and “heart-breaks”, but still her eyes showed the tears of none,

And why would they, if she had something everyone else missed,

Hundreds of white souls passed by but her soul was the only one with a palette of beautiful colors,

Her soul was enriched with self-belief and composure,

Her soul appreciated the past but visioned a better future,

Her soul meditated into the tranquility

Only because she knew life,

She knew no matter what she has to learn to create crescent on her face during the day,

Because she knew she cannot wait for the nights,

Cause they could be dark,

They could be darker,

Or the darkest,

She has to live her day waiting for nothing and no one but still appreciating each and every white soul,

With her smile because she knew life,

And she taught me one.
