This Time is so Cruel | Poem by Bijay Sapkota

Bijay Sapkota

Leaving no men and women behind
Snatching peace of every single life
Not a single mercy for a while
Restless every ounce of day and night
Fear roaming all urban and rural
For this time is so cruel.

Mother is weeping every day and night
For her children are far from sight
Father is worried about every lunch and dinner
For he knows starvation is way too near
But riches are worried for dollars
Love and loved one not anymore in the air
Knowing they can’t hug and assemble
For this time is so cruel.

Freedom locked in the room
Future lost in the cloud
Talents being so idle and dull
Science being challenged
Medicine suffering itself
Businesses out of business
Economy sloping downhill
Anxiety rocketing in every heart
Days are seeming longer and ruined
People are in a campaign to live again
But lacking hopes and fuel
For this time is so cruel.
