“Scared” | Poem by Saramsha Aryal

While the world was shut,
Have you woken up?
In the darkness-
Have you felt whole?
The sun everyone waits for,
Has it ever scared you?

What does it mean?
To shut your words-
And to cry for the sun,
Spend your whole day,
Waiting for the dusk,
Only to feel whole again.

Dusk feels familiar,
The brightness seeps-
To your soul where it still hurts
The scars have not healed,
Wait, do the scars ever heal?
The light makes it clear
You are a broken soul

Have you,
Lost yourself through the day,
And found yourself in the night?
It still needs time,
To face the dawn,
The light makes it clear,
How much you love the night?

The night,
Because no one hears you then,
The cries are safe
To the lap of a lone star,
Watching you catch your breath,
As you’ve had-
Enough for the day.

But while you’re catching your breath,
Living through the darkness,
Have you ever fallen?
For the moon
It’s beautiful,
Scars don’t need to heal.

It lights you up-
The light you really want,
A calming one,
Assuring you with its shine,
You are not a broken soul,
Only a tired one.
