Sunflower in the Antarctic | English Poem | Shambhav Bhattarai

Shambhav Bhattarai English Poem

I,
A sunflower standing in the Antarctic.
From daybreak,
To twilight –
You are all I look for
You’re the purpose of my day,
My sense of direction.
You,
Are what I live for.
You’re my sun,
You’re my soul.
I,
A mere piece of flora in this snowscape.
From the icebergs,
To the mighty ocean –
You are all I look for
You’re synonymous to my life,
My sense of being.
You,
Are high up in the sky
High up the horizon,
High above my existence.
You,
Live alone in your endless skies.
And I,
Live alone in my endless ice.

Yet I,
Look at you all day,
Kissing your warm rays
But you don’t care.
When you leave me in the dark,
I dream of you all night.
Dreaming that you will come back again tomorrow,
And bless me with your light.
I,
Stare at you –
From dawn to eve,
Bedazzled by you.
But, you don’t care.
You,
Are divine.
You’re the only star in my skies
You’re the only dream in my eyes.
But every night,
You leave me all alone.
Alone and cold.
But I still dream of you,
Every night.
And I still stare at you,
Every day.
I look at your face and imagine,
That in another life,
You could be my muse with I, a hopeless romantic.
But here,

You don’t even know I live my life looking at you.
Because you’re the mighty sun, and I,
A sunflower standing in the Antarctic.
