Change the Quarantine Social Media Trend | Sujata Bastola

#Social Media Trend

Dear Everyone,

In this high time, when the whole human world is fighting, and is in terror, because of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, many young youths, specifically in social media platforms are behaving in immature ways.

In the name of dealing with their boredom, or in name of their freedom, they are misusing the purpose of social media in a negative manner. Use of social media can be refreshing, fun and a great way to pass time. It is even a good way of virtual socialization during this lock-down period. But don’t overdo it. You may argue saying it’s your freedom and all, but look at what kind of trend and impact it has been creating lately.

Here are my tips for making the best out this time:

  1. You can make this time more productive by spending more time with your family members. Try to break those gender stereotypes, and cook together, clean together. Try something new and productive activities. Try to make your home a happier place to live in.
  2. As you have enough leisure time, you can learn new hobbies and work on what make you fulfilled and satisfied.
  3. You can utilize your leisure time by cleaning your room and eventually the entire house. This can be the best time for maintaining hygiene and cleanliness.
  4. Give time to read more books, educational materials and articles that interests you. Keep updating yourself and others through official news agencies and online articles. You can grow yourself reading many online websites that are free and helpful.
  5. You can learn to use new virtual platforms. Learn Photoshop, learn new language or learn any new skill that will benefit you. Make the best use out of this time for self-growth and self-reflection.
  6. Exercise from home. Try meditation or breathing technique to keep you more optimistic and refreshing and in a peaceful state of mind.
  7. If you feel bored, chat, talk and communicate with your long distanced friends, family members, relatives and shower their day with optimism, laughter creating beautiful memories.
  8. If possible, help other people in whatever ways you can. Make attempts to spread positive messages. Be more conscious, happier, healthier and a responsible citizen and make others feel the same. But don’t forget to maintain social distancing.

Well, this post is to remind everyone that we must stay optimistic, act rational and make most out of this quarantine period. Don’t overuse social medias, don’t share fake news. Rather share quality contents or articles. Don’t over-flood your feed with memes related to COVID-19. People are actually dying out there. Thank God that we are still safe and pray for the better health of the victims. Change the negative and misused social media trend with positive ones.

Lastly, remember to maintain a healthy environment around yourself and in the community. Together we can fight COVID-19. Stay Home. Stay Safe.
