Best Of Friend | Story | Chapter 1 | Written by Kundan Sinha

Alex gave his exams successfully and was given admission to study. His aunt was so proud of him because she’d never thought he could pass the exams. In happiness, Aunty Veronica took him out for shopping, bought Alex lots of expensive gifts.

Ann also passed the exams and was given admission to study in that school. Her father took her out shopping and bought her expensive clothes and jewel because he was also very happy with her results.

At the shopping mall, Ann saw Alex and ran to meet him.

Ann becomes surprised and asked, “Are you not the same boy whom I met at the school where I gave my enrollment exams?”

Alex couldn’t answer her because he was with his aunty. Ann asked him again, “Or do you have a twin brother?”

Aunty Veronica said to Alex, “I think this girl is talking to you?” Alex was so curious and answered, “Aunt I don’t know her at all, and I don’t even know what she is talking about.”

Ann becomes sad and walked away she went back to meet her father. Mr. Maxwell noticed Ann’s mood and asked her, “Why do you have a sad face, my dear? Don’t you like this place?”

She answered, “Of course I do, and it’s just that someone ignored me.”

Mr. Maxwell said to her, “Common my dear, don’t feel bad. That is how humans are.” Alex and his aunt left the mall and went back home. On their way, Alex couldn’t stop thinking about his response to Ann.

His aunt was noticing his countenance and in surprise asked, “What is bothered you, my boy?”

He said, “Nothing aunt I’m just thinking about my parents.”

“Come on, I am here for you.” She said, “And from now onward you can address me as Mom.”

On the other hand, Ann and her father also left the mall and went back home, Ann was still sad about what Alex did to her.

She murmured to herself, “I will make sure I’ll deal with him at school and make him pay for lying to me.”

A few days later, a letter arrived at Alex’s house. His aunt received them. She opened it and read what was written in it. Soon as she read the letter, in the happiness she called out to Alex saying, “Child, come here quickly.”

Alex came down running as his aunt said to him, “I just got a letter from the school you wrote the enrollment exams, and they said you can resume school from next week’s Monday.”

Alex felt happy and his heart filled with joy. Suddenly he became sad and said, “Mom and dad, I wish you were here to celebrate with me. I have been enrolled in school.”

Aunt Veronica became emotional with his words so she hugged him and said, “I will do what your parents couldn’t do for you before they died. I will make sure you achieve your dreams, Alex.” He looked at his aunt with tears in his eyes and said, “Thank you, Aunt, I will surely pay you back someday.”

Aunt Veronica said to him, “Since I don’t have any child, and your mom is my only sister I have decided to train you as my own child.”

Later that day, Ann’s father also received a letter. He showed it to his wife. Both were so happy and called their daughter. Ann came downstairs and looking at them asked, “Mom-Dad, why are you so happy?”

Mr. Maxwell answered, “I just got a letter from the school you wrote the enrollment exams and they said you can resume school from next week.” In a surprise, she screamed and hugged her parents. She said to herself, “I am sure, Alex also must have got the letter too. Let the school begin and I will surely deal with him next week.”

After a week, Aunty Veronica began to make preparation for Alex’s school. She bought him all the textbooks and writing materials he needed for school. She also tailored his new school uniform.

Similarly, Ann’s parents also bought her what she needed for her school. Finally, the day for school came. Ann was beyond excited to be in school and to meet Alex to take revenge for his rude behavior in the shopping mall.
