Regular classes are cancelled, exams are being re-scheduled, university buildings are shut down, meetings are being postponed and our country is semi-locked down.
Movie halls, gym, zoo, clubs and more are closed temporarily. Concerts are postponed, sporting events are canceled and tourist hot-spots are shut down.
When the world is in crisis due to the novel Corona-virus, experts say that even those who show no sign of illness must stay home during this time of global pandemic.
“Now what am I supposed to do?”
As the COVID-19 pandemic sweeps the world, many are, dealing with greater concerns, regarding the virus. Health personals, medical teams, media persons and volunteer and those with major roles are continuously working to fight against the spreading of the virus.
But for those healthy and burden free people who are forced to be stuck at home, how can the time be spent? What can you do to prevent from the virus and best utilize your time?
We are very familiar with the term. Yes, that’s right: It’s advised that you self-quarantine yourself. Self-quarantine doesn’t mean you have stay in a room and not move at all. It means to stay at home, do regular house chores and be in less contact with people than in regular days.
Staying inside the house is a good way to prevent yourself and others from getting contaminated with the virus, and also it is an important step to implement to flatten the raising daily cases due to the widespread of the virus.
Now what’s there to do while being stuck indoors? We’ve compiled 10 ideas to help make your self-quarantine time period more interesting – and perhaps more productive – as possible.
In one way, this seems to be the perfect time to let your hobbies out and do all those things that bring you joy and happiness.
1. Read a book

We hate reading text books but who is telling you to read your academic book? Better read books that are on your shelves that you never completed. Your bookshelf whether it is over-stuffed or arranged nicely says a lot of good things about your mind. Reading will teach you a lot, help you to be stay healthier, happier, smarter, and will aid in your lifetime experience. Smartest and successful people in the world, name it from Bill Gates, Shah Rukh Khan to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, they all insist that the best way to get smarter by reading more. Are there any unread books in your shelf? How about starting reading by picking one of them?
2. Clean Regularly

Cleaning is must, with or without global pandemic. From washing your hands to wiping the floor, cleaning counts. Start with your room. Sweep the floor, wipe the dusts out and be dust free. It can’t guarantee to kill all the germs but it will definitely create a healthy environment to stay at. Clean your kitchen, bathroom and even your backyard. Clean everything around, wash your hands and stay safe.
3. Time to Cook

Maybe every mother rightfully complained that she is the only one who cooks and wishes someone to take over her cooking duty. Why not learn cooking then? Any recipe book or online recipe video can help you make something easy and delicious. Instead of cooking regular Rice-Curry item, try cooking something special. Learn cooking with your mom. Simply, follow her instructions and cook something tonight. I’m sure she will appreciate whatever you cook for your family.
4. Best utilize your ‘Messenger’

Instead of just scrolling memes, try contacting your long-distanced friends, relatives, siblings or your old friends whom you really miss. You are requested not to travel more, but you can still get in touch with your near and dear ones through video calling. This can be the perfect time to reconnect with those family member and friends whom we get to talk to once in a blue moon. Why not make a call right away?
5. Create or complete your project

If you’ve always wanted to pen poems, books, novels in impressionist landscapes, now is the perfect time to realize that dream. Just work on it. Somewhere in the deep, dark depths we know that your assignments, research, projects are pending. Also, if you are creative enough, create something new on your own. You can also create a graphical abstract of your research or something like that. Do you have any new project in your mind? Work on that, you are capable of doing what you can dream about.
6. Learn something new

With all the free time you have got, use them to learn something new every day. You can learn new language, vocabulary, calligraphy, few guitar chords or perhaps an art of meditation. There’s mostly nothing that Google cannot help you with. Make a new hobby and start learning. There’s a lot you can learn sitting home.

7. Fill those dustbins

Once you’re done with your cleaning, scan out your closet and throw the stuffs that you don’t need anymore. Past years’ exam papers, unwashed torn clothes, wrestling cards, why are they still in your closet? After all, you really don’t need them. Throw them away. I know, your mom can only make good use of them by making kitchen cloth to organic fertilizers. What doesn’t go straight in the dustbin can be sold or given away later too.
8. Home Workout

Most gyms are closed you can’t continue your daily workout routine? That’s no problem. During the time of social distancing workouts at home is one of the best things that you can do. Download some home workout apps and exercise with home equipment’s. You can always choose alternative to gym. Try some basic stretching, yoga or just a workout without dumbbells. It is highly effective and recommended to stay active and healthy.
9. Time to NETFLIX

Most people prefer movies to be the best cure for boredom. Make a list of movies and series you want to watch, and start watching. Scrolling through Netflix to find a worth watching movie can be challenging but you can always search for “Lists of best movies” to watch or ask for a friend’s recommendation.
10. Just do nothing

Take your time and escape the buzz of viral panic. Turn off your phone, laptop screens, computers and really get some rest. Talk to nobody and do nothing for a while. It can be hard but maybe the pandemic is a good time for you to reflect on yourself. Give time to yourself and to really important things in life and count your blessings. Focus on self-development and self-growth as well. Create a life that you wished you could.
