I forgive you | Namita Bhattarai

Namita Bhattarai

I forgive you.

Yes. I forgive you. After a timeline of several years which felt like a lifetime, I forgive you. Not because you deserve it. But because I deserve peace. With myself. And the past.

I don’t deserve those haunted memories to keep me binded in tears and fear and denial and depression and all the drainage of my self-esteem. No. I don’t deserve that. I never deserved it.

But, I forgive you because I believe that time changes. People change. Knowledge widens. And you learn. You learn.

I hope, in fact, I pray that what I faced and learned the hard way, others would do that much easily, without having the need to face what I did. I don’t wish you to realize what I have been through by seeing someone you love in the same place. I don’t want them in that place.

For that, today, I decide to rise above.
I decide to rise above hatred.
And I decide to have my peace over it.
I decide to forgive you.
