He left that night
hoping for tomorrow good mornings in his workplace,
but woke up quarantined!!
Government announced pandemic has arrived uninvited,
Uninvited was also his hungry stomach in their big towers to plea them for food.
He shut downed his hunger,
He roped his legs,
He masked his mouth,
as duty, it was to save and be saved!!
He counted days in his fingers
10 hand fingers are insufficient now,
days are changed to months
the kitchen has been emptied now!!
“All that was left, I gave to my hungry stomach” he yells..
Alas! what he has come to know,
those with full pockets got to flow,
flow like a river,
with no boundaries,
when rupee was shown, given any exits and entries!!
Knock ! Knock! someone came at his door,
happiness flowed when he saw rice and flour,
Clicked his picture, went outdoor,
Sorry to say, but he got outdated flour!!
” Oh poor man!”, his heart cried,
Burnt the fire, he made roti that night,
Though expired he felt it was god gift,
He felt relief and took a bite!!
