Unique Balochi Wedding Traditions | Written by Zubair Arif
It is a fact that every nation has gotten its own tradition to perform marriages.  It is part of happiness and joy in one’s future. Firstly, when it comes to Balochi Weddings(Balochistan region); that is different from other cultures. There are some rules and regulations of Balochi Wedding which you might have never heard about.
Today I am sharing them with you. Hold your hand together and dive into the list:

1. Bejjari:

It is the rule of Balochi Wedding where people go for marriage without looking at any circumstances. Most poor people can not afford to perform one’s marriage ceremony due to poverty. But they do go for it anyhow, for sake of one’s kinships, relatives, and other societies.

2. Engagement:

It is one of the common aspects of getting married is getting engaged. But make sure when we come for performing a marriage, first of all, the boy’s parents send a message to the girl’s parents.
It is up to them whether they do agree or not. Only after a decision is made, further activities are carried out. However, if a girl’s parents accepts the proposal, they demand their rights in the shape of money, jewelry, or even more. After this only, they will finalize the date to welcome boy’s parents and an engagement takes place.

3. Invitation:

It is the second element of the Balochi Wedding. All of the women gather in a house and go inviting house to house of their society and neighborhood. This invitation ceremony will continue for almost a week.

4. Julbandi:

When all the invited women of the society gather in the boy’s house and leave for the bride’s house taking all the jewelry and essentials, it is called Julbandi.

5. Duzzuki:

On the night of marriage, (Sargwap or Lodi) henna are crafted in the bride’s and groom’s hands. And they will sing traditional songs which reflect the symbols of Balochi Wedding and they celebrate. This entire process is called Duzzuki.

6. Henni-band:

In Baloch marriage, after Duzzuki, comes the Henni-band in which all the invited members gather together. Once again, (Sargwap or Lodi) the hands of the bride and groom’s; feet are covered with hennas. This special preparation is called henni-band.

7. Khorag:

The invited members of society, neighbors, and distinguished guests gather in the evening at the house of the groom and have dinner.
After which they will go for the celebration of  Khorag. The dancing ceremony of the groom and bride’s kinships is called Khorag.
If you happen to visit Balochistan, do attend one of the Baloch marriage ceremonies, it will be a unique experience for sure.

8. Nekah:

When Mulla takes the sign of the groom, after which he will be sending three witnesses to the bride. Additionally, at the same time groom, take an oath saying he will take care of the bride from any hardships or difficulties.
Unquestionably, from it, three of the elbow friends of the groom stand and take him to the bride’s house. This special moment is called Nekah.

9. Mubaraki:

Mubaraki is the last day of the marriage where a family of grooms gather with a drummer and leave for the bride’s house.
This is not a deeply detailed description of Baloch marriage ceremony but a glimpse of how it looks.
