Suicide Still Rampant Among Youngsters and Why We Should Care | Unisha Aryal

The word ‘suicide’ brings darkness in the morning. This word is associated with the death of thousands of teenagers. They think that by committing suicide they can take away their pain. They cannot even imagine what will be the situation of their family members and friends.

Suicide is rarely committed on the spur of the moment. In most cases, it is deliberate and the outcome of a snowball effect. A mental disorder might develop as a result of a person’s numerous emotional psychological issues. People still regard suicide as a sort of cowardice or a dishonorable act, which is unfortunate. To even consider ending one’s own life, one must be mentally unwell and suffering significantly. Especially when the human mind is wired with an exceedingly tough ‘survival instinct.’

Suicide is permanent but depression is not. Life is all about problems and pressure. One should be hopeful and tackle all the problems to achieve their goal for the future. There is no good future without any struggle. Human beings have the capacity to live their life to the maximum extent but not to take it. Problems come and go but life is just for a time, no one should conclude it. We can see and hear that most teenagers commit suicide because of stress, mental pressure, and all of which are temporary in every human life.

According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15-24 years old. It also mentioned that they have a suicidal tendency because of mental illness i.e. depression and anxiety.

The majority of suicidal people display warning indications or signals that their intentions are suicidal. Recognizing these warning signals and knowing how to respond if we see them is the greatest approach to prevent suicide. If we suspect a friend or family member is suicidal, we can help by pointing out the alternatives, indicating that we care, and enlisting the help of a doctor or psychologist.

Suicide is not the solution for mitigating the pain. Suicides have a cascading effect on the lives of those who have lost a loved one to suicide. According to studies, a suicide affects at least six people: family members, lovers, friends, or anybody else who is close to the person. It’s unfortunate that when someone commits suicide, their family is frequently vilified, blamed, and stigmatized. As it stands, the family members will be forever damaged by the incident. They’ll never stop wondering, “Why?”

Suicide, it is said, never ends the agony; it simply transfers it to someone else. The world is an unfair place, and suicide is viewed as a desperate attempt to end excruciating pain. Suicide is generally motivated by feelings of agony, sorrow, and despair. It’s difficult since the agony is real and maybe smothering at times. The majority of suicides occur as a result of momentary depression or despair.

Youngsters must realize that they are not the only ones who are having such problems in their lives. We should also educate youths and aware them of the suicide tendency. Though it is very deeply stigmatized in our society. Because of the stigma associated with suicide in the public consciousness, it has been difficult to encourage sufferers and their families to talk about it. As a result, most people are unaware of the risk factors for suicide and how to avoid it.

Whatever the issues are, whether personal or social, they can all be resolved. All you need is patience, bravery, and self-confidence. ‘Even if you do not inherently have these qualities, acquire them or if you have difficulty in psychological development, seek therapy and counseling’. It’s your life, and it’s up to you to make the most of it by overcoming whatever obstacles or challenges that arise. This will turn you into a true fighter rather than a quitter. The most important factor is time. Everything transforms and heals as a result of it. Whatever your circumstances, time will never be the same for you. After every night, there comes a bright day, and similarly, every difficulty has a solution. All you have to do now is recognize your solution while remaining vigilant.

Life is far too valuable, and you could do far more by saving it. Face it and live your life as a truly brave and bold person. Always keep in mind that there is always another option. Look for it!! Let us all promise and resolve with our hearts, brains, and efforts on World Suicide Prevention Day to aggressively combat the insensitive and harsh stigmas associated with mental health. People who have suicidal thoughts should be treated with respect and compassion rather than with disdain.
