Let me start with my experience. I myself am a grade 12 student. We passed our grade 11 via internal exam. But, I found the internal exam’s result unfair and biased. I felt like I wasn’t given the marks that I deserved. Maybe because the teachers’ were not fair enough or maybe the evaluation was not done right. Compared to my college, my friends from other private colleges got double my score. Are those the real marks or is it the boon of being in a private college where teachers decide whom to give how many marks?
Now, that the exam is canceled, there’s a high chance of internal evaluation again. I am pretty sure, the results won’t be fair enough. It’s true that to apply for university, good grades are important. But, not sure, how the results are going to be affected looking at our past experience with college.
Or maybe the exams will be conducted physically later on. I personally think the exams must be conducted in physical presence though it is postponed for now. I am ready to answer an easy or hard question but I request the government authorities to not make it online.
Rather take time. Let the pandemic end. Or take it after it is fully under control. They can divide into different shifts, with proper guidance and safety measure exam can be conducted, but let it be conducted in a fair manner.
I have seen my friends joining Twitter just to increase that hashtag trend ‘ #CancelNEBExams ‘. Later on, they will be the ones complaining about unfair exam results. We live in a judgemental society where marks matter, not knowledge or skill. That’s where we are backward in our educational system. It shouldn’t be like if you get good marks, you should brag about it, and if you get fewer marks you should be criticizing every time. Our perception of exams is not good.
One thing that bothered me is, I have been seeing my friends going out, traveling, meeting each other, gathering in public places, but when it came to exams, everyone started saying the exam should be canceled. How is that even relevant?
And the government’s decision is always late. We studied so hard for our exam but were unsure if the exams will be held or not. The situation was getting worse, if only they decided to postpone the exam, we would have spent our precious time learning a new skill. We wouldn’t have wasted our time on bookish learning. But that’s how our government is, always late on everything.
I don’t know what others are going to say, but I think exams should be conducted physically. Postpone it for now, but do conduct them as soon as possible because it’s already late and I don’t want my career to be stuck because of one exam.
